Why are most wholesalers dishonest about their business?
I've come across a few potential buyers who do wholesaling which I have no problem with, but when I post different listings on the internet and they contact me about them, I ask them a bit about what they do and if they flip and sell or if they rent them out, and they say they are buyers interested in renting out the house or fixing it up, but that's when they think I'm the owner of the house, when I tell them I'm an agent, they say they only want off market properties which they can deal with the owner directly, and a lot of what they say sounds a lot like wholesaling such as going for off market deals and getting an assignment fee or finding other buyers wanting to pay more. They just tell me a different story when they think I'm the owner of the house like they have a real interest in the house, but when I tell them that I'm an agent and never claimed to be the owner in any of the ads on the listings, they change their story.
